Seahorse

Seahorse (シーホース) opened in February 2018 and is located on the second floor of 'Bar Ryumin' on Akarui Hanazono 8th Street in Shinjuku Golden Gai. A seahorse sign marks the entrance—climb the stairs to find a surprisingly stylish space with a high vaulted ceiling, vintage décor, and a cozy L-shaped counter with seven seats. The bar's signature offerings are house-made spirits infused with spices and herbs, alongside a lineup of over 100 craft gins. The ¥1,200 cover charge includes daily changing snacks, always accompanied by a homemade soup—a warm touch that reflects the owner's care for her guests. Owner Matilda (Nao Oguro), who pursued a career in theater and dance before opening the bar, gained widespread attention after being featured on Fuji TV's 'Seven Rules.' The welcoming atmosphere makes it a comfortable choice for solo drinkers of all backgrounds.
